Welcoming our exciting new sponsors

As the summer winds down and the days gently metamorphose into autumn, as we throw open the windows and bask in the gorgeous crisp, clear afternoons, we have Italy on our minds. Jeanne, Meeta, Ilva and I may have been keeping a low profile all summer yet we have been working ever so diligently behind the scenes, preparing the second From Plate to Page workshop. We will soon be joining our 12 passionate participants, the newest group of Plate to Pagers, in Tuscany at the magnificent Il Salicone villa for this exclusive, hands-on, intensive weekend workshop where the fabulous food and spectacular surroundings are sure to inspire!
With only a month until our next workshop, finalizing details is our topmost priority. Our goal is to make this the best learning experience and memorable weekend possible! Yet as anyone who understands the workings of a starred restaurant knows, a fabulous dining experience isn’t all up to just one person, whether chef, restaurant manager or waiter. Putting together the perfect meal and an unforgettable experience that leaves the diner astonished, content and wanting more takes a team; and this is our Plate to Page philosophy. We know how important are our sponsors in creating something fantastic; our sponsors add spice to the event by allowing us to shower fabulous and inspiring gifts on our participants as well as goodies that can be used during our sessions and exercises as subjects for styling, photography or writing topics. Their generous support allows us to make From Plate to Page the best that it can be.
We are thrilled to present our newest sponsors for the Tuscany From Plate to Page workshop and welcome them to the family!

Zwilling J.A. Henckels
The history of the ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS brand starts on June 13, 1731 (under the Gemini star sign). It was on that day that knife-maker Peter Henckels from Solingen registered the "Twin" symbol as his trademark with the Cutlers´ Guild of Solingen. This symbol which is now well-known all over the world , is thus one of the oldest trademarks in the world.
Today´s name - ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS - was given to the Company by a descendant of Peter Henckels, Johann Abraham Henckels.

Today products by ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS are recognized globally as the symbol for the highest possible quality and function.

Sunchowder's Emporia
Three years ago, Wendy Read left her corporate job to make jams – and not just any jams, mind you, but complex expressions of fruit derived from a few simple ingredients. With the freshest fruit around, Read makes each batch by hand in copper kettles. Using old French methods of jam making, such as allowing fruit to macerate overnight, Read coaxes luscious flavors out of berries and stone fruits. Since Read doesn’t add pectin, her preserves have a pure, smooth texture: They’re deliciously different from the average jam.  Each jam is Fruit-forward and full-bodied, with light citrusy notes. As if by magic, fresh fruit, sugar and lemon zest combine to make this mouthwatering jams by Sunchowder’s Emporia. The sugar and acid allow fruit to shine at its full flavor potential. The fruit in these jams is so ripe and luscious that it’s hard not to eat them by the spoonful.  Read’s jams are fabulous served on a piping-hot Danish, onto fresh shortcakes or mixed a spoonful with ricotta cheese and cinnamon for dessert. Jam is fun to have around, but hard to keep around when it’s Sunchowder’s Emporia.

Smaromi

In ancient times, spices have been precious like gold. Brought home from journeys in exotic countries, they have been available only for the privileged upper class. This splendour vanished over the past century as spices made their way into supermarkets.
Smaromi returns these secret values of spices by offering delicacies of the highest quality and rarity. Discover unknown flavors, be amazed by the colours and structures our spices will reveal.
Smaromi maintains strong bonds with the origins and homecountries of their spices. To retain their superior quality one also needs to set great value upon optimal transport and storing. As a famous cook once said. Cooking is love - there is no better proof than opening one of smaromis black jars and breathing the magic that immediately fills your heart.
