The Hick family first came to Dublin in 1919, when three brothers Eddie, John and Henry left Berwick-on-Tweed on the Scottish Border. Their father, was born in Germany and started his apprenticeship circa 1878. Three years ago, Wendy Read left her corporate job to make jams – and not just any jams, mind you, but complex expressions of fruit derived from a few simple ingredients.
